Dick Advocaat to coach the Socceroos??
Don’t people ever learn??? Guus Hiddink coached Oranje to the top in 1998…. He was followed up by Louis van Gaal who dropped the ball painfully, to be succeeded by Dick Advocaat who made history -albeit in a negative way – with his Robben-Bosvelt replacement in the EC 04 in Portugal.
That Dick Advocaat, raking in US dollars in St Petersburg at the moment, is courted to follow up Graeme Arnold as the Socceroos’ new coach.
Why?
I mean, I can understand why nations want Hiddink. I could understand why Beenhakker was picked to coach…Tobago (?)…my memory doesn’t serve me well… I can understand why Rob Baan is asked to do the management job in Australia for the Football Federation, but why would a nation want Dick Advocaat??? Because he was successful in the past??? He wasn’t… Because he is a guarantee for exciting football??? He isn’t? Because he sells the sports so well and is good with the press???? He just isn’t??? Because he is cheap??? Well, he isn’t….
Why do companies, people, clubs, governments etc keep on making the same mistakes????

I think its because he does a job. His teams doesnt win and doesnt loose.

think you are too hard on Advocaat Jan,
think ‘the problem’ is that Advocaat plays save all the time..its like Lerkot said; hes first goal is not to loose and thats not very dutch
remember that Robben-Bosveld thing; all of Holland was so pissed off cause it was a change to consolidate; there was even a website called: http://www.slechtstewisselooit.nl wich means worst replacement ever..haha
but still; hes been around for many, many years so he cant be that bad..you know what you get with this guy (and hes from DenHaag so thats a plus aswell!)

I don’t know… The Aussies need a coach to instill some “new” vision in their football, like Guus did. That’s why you pick a Dutch coach. And then you’d chose Jol, Marwijk, Vergoossen, De Haan, Adriaanse or Van Gaal. Not Advocaat… That’s my opinion anyways… What’s the point in selecting Dickie, you know?

did Hiddink really bring a new vision??
always have this feeling that Hiddink has been made bigger/better than he really is (you know what i mean) by the media etc. (still think hes one of the great people managers though)
i mean what is the aussie vision at the moment?? maybe they need a coach who doenst take much risk??
agree that vanGaal and Adriaans have a vision but they are different then the rest (Jol, vanMarwijk)
is it that the aussie want to play a 4-3-3 system of attacking??
