de Guzman for Holland?

Jonathan de Guzman has become eligible for a Dutch passport. He is reported to want one which is beyond me to be honest. I imagine that he was given the idea following Salomon Kalou’s failed attempt to gain citizenship in order to play for the Dutch in Germany. de Guzman is originally Canadian but has been in the Netherlands for the required five years. I can’t imagine he would ever be considered for a spot in the Dutch squad though considering the wealth of midfield talent.
