Davids Thinks he Deserves World Cup Spot

Edgar Davids’ place on the Dutch team might be in doubt, but the 32-year-old midfielder has no doubt in his mind that he deserves a spot on the team.

“When you play regularly in the Premiership there is a big possibility for me to play at the World Cup. Playing in the Premier League is not a walk in the park,” said Davids. “I have not spoken to Marco Van Basten about the situation, but we are all grown-ups and professionals. We will wait and see what happens. I’m sure Marco will be looking at a number of players and to see who is in form. Every player feels they should be involved at the World Cup.”

Davids was left off the roster for Holland’s friendly against Ecuador last week, a move that ha heightened speculation that he is not part of Van Basten’s plans.

Even though he has lost a step or three over the years, Davids is still a solid professional and based on his form at Tottenham I think he should be on the team in Germany.
