In any event, CL looks like another EPL big 4 repeat. Can’t see anyone else having a real go, including Real Madrid. In a way it is getting more boring every year. The UEFA cup is quite possibly a better tournament to watch as far as the average fan goes. At least there is a bit of uncertainty involved.

@Jan (and others) – you don’t have to be a hostage to your cable companies pick of what to show (or to waking up 4:30 AM). When I was in Japan I found that buying a match replay subscription from uefa.com worked perfectly for me. You buy the pass – used to be monthly, but now it’s only available annually (for 30 euros) – and then after midnight CET you can watch any of the day’s matches (or any older matches) streamed onto your computer. The video quality is very good and the commentary is in English (although some of the commentators tend to spoil other games a lot).

It’s very convenient because people in the Asia/Australia area are sleeping until past midnight CET anyways, so it’s not like you have to wait to watch the matches, and then you can watch the matches any time you want. It also looks like the pass covers Uefa cup this year too.

Uefa pisses me off because they are shameless money chasers (note how they removed the option to buy monthly passes because everyone cancels in the summer when there is no games to watch), but this is still a good service if you want to pay the 30 euros a year (which is still a decent price).
