Boulah’s Bentley
At last Boulahrouz replaces Heijtinga! A man replacing a boy.
Some people say Boulah doesn’t start in Oranje, because he drives a Bentley in Hamburg. I think that’s great!!! A Bentley is not a typical footballers’ car… Football players drive in Ferrari’s. Mercedes Benz’s. Porsche’s.
Flash cars, bling sunnies and expensive women. And girlfriends.
Van Basten doesn’t want that. Moviestar behaviour. Bad for team spirit.
When Michels was coach, you could only get a spot on the team when you were married with 2 children. Preferably a boy and a girl.
Co Adriaanse. Top trainer at Porto. Told Bennie McCarthy he needed to lose his dreads, if he wanted a chance to play. Some players play much better with a fancy haircut, but the modern trainer hates it. Socks need to be in order, shirts tucked in the shorts.
And Van Basten hops along with these non-issues… He, of all people, who knew that all you need is a good mentality and superb individual capabilities.
Remember the time, when Oranje was already 1-0 up before the match? Gullit with his Lion’s hair? Rinus Israel’s smirk? The jokes and shenanigans of Krol and Suurbier?
Kuyt blows kisses and enjoys the boardgames with the group. Van Bommel smiles to the press and answers questions politely. Van Nistelrooy is surprised Oranje is already qualified for the next phase… WHAT? Van Nistelrooy should be surprised that he played lousy twice (ok, he did score) and was replaced twice. That is wat should surprise Ruud!!
Robben and van Persie make the difference. Why? Because they are egotistical ego-trippers. Give van Bommel a Harley Davidson jacket and a three day- stub and he’ll control the midfield.
Van Nistelrooy bets his yearly salary on horses in Paris and scores twice every match.
Van der Vaart has a VIP-pass for all sleazy lapdance joint in Hamburg and Sneijder bought himself a new golden Rolex with mother of pearl shackles.
And Boulah? He parks his Bentley in the box in such a way, not a mouse can get through…
