Best Team of The World

ronaldo_c.jpg

Or rather, Europe. I can’t judge the talent in South America because I hardly see any game from that continent.

But, the C.Ronaldo discussion got me going. Therefore, here is my first attempt to create the best team of the moment.

Mind you: I don’t really follow German or French football, so I don’t know exactly what players shine in those competitions. And the Italian competition is a bit of a bore too, I must admit. So, please my friends, correct me where you can and come back with your ideas, ok?

Van der Sar (Man Utd)

Lahm (Bayern M) John Terry (Chelsea) Nesta (AC Milan) Zanetti (Internationale)

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) Iniesta (Barca) Ces Fabregas (Arsenal) C. Ronaldo (Man Utd)

Lionel Messi (Barca) Torres (Liverpool)

Bench:
Robin van Persie (normally starter, but not in form right now) (Arsenal)
Xavi (Barca)
Marquez (Barca)
Rooney (Man Utd)
Kaka (AC Milan)
Lampard (Chelsea)
Gomes (PSV)

Coach: Arsene Wenger (Arsenal)
Assistant: Marco van Basten :-)

So: 4 English players, 2 Dutch, 1 German, 4 Spanish, 2 Argentinians, 1 Italian, 1 Portguese, 2 Brzailians, 1 Mexican… One French coach and a Dutch asistant in charge of carrying the balls and the water.

Your Turn!

Good point about Van Nistelrooij you guys, I would usually pick him too, but he’s injured and kind of out of form. If Van Persie is in form I would put him in the starting eleven too. All dutch forward line! Everybody knows we are the best at attacking!

Jan – French, English, Dutch! Any more languages?

For me right now, at this very moment and at this very second has to be :

Oooohhh Aaaahh Vann Dah Sah Oooohh Ahh
Garragher Ferdinand Nesta Evra
Messy Gerrard Fabregas Ronaldo
—– Torres Drogba ——-

Of the Dutch, only EVDS gets my nod for starters at the moment.

personally, i am always surprised that everyone considers Ramos to be a right back, i think he plays there only because madrid lacks a high caliber right back and have better cover in the centre. so my best 11 of the moment would be:

Casillas
Ramos Nesta Ferdinand
Messi Fabregas Flamini Iniesta Ronaldo
Eto’o Torres

subs:
Lahm, Clichy, van Nistelroij, Gerrard, van Persie, van der Sar, van der vaart, Benzema, Maldini

I’m surprised not to have seen any of the following players come up yet:
ibrahimovic, diego, vidic, ribery, totti (joke) and considering how many times toure was chosen, why gallas has failed to impress any of you.

Igor – good point about Gallas. I like him, I would probably put him in my team. Good defender with a talent for scoring, especially in important games. Could fit into a total football team well.

For me, I will never, ever pick totti or ibrahimovic in any of my teams. I have no room for dirty bastard players like that.

Mine favourites would be

———van der Sar———–
Ramos—-Zanetti—-Terry—-Lahm
Quaresma–Gerrard–van der Vaart–nedved
——-villa—-huntelaar——–

Notice theres no C. Ronaldo, thats cuz he’s terrible. No Fabregas because he’s overrated. I wanted to pick Torres but I think Villa’s better, but doesn’t get as good of passes.

I’m with Igor — I’m surprised names like Diego, Ribery, Toni, and Mario Gomez haven’t shown up more.

Casillas
Westermann – Mertesacker – Demichelis – Lahm
Ribery – Diego – Van der Vaart – Ronaldo (this would be the all show, no defending midfield!)
Gomez – Ibrahimovic

Juliet,
with all due respect you picked 1 player from the teams that are left in the CL…

This was supposed to be the World team right now. You even manged to leave out Torres and Fabregas.

I suggest you upgrade your cable subscription because you need to watch more football.

Great suggestions all… I deliberately left injured players (Ruud, Robin) out. I’m not a Zlatan Ibrahimivic fan, although he is good. Toni has a weakness, his right foot is horrible. Ribery is interesting…

i’m suprised – there is no dutch defender in my squad…

Hi Ferenc, yeah I’ve been watching the youngster. He actually looks like JC when he was 18 years old! Remarkable likeness. John van ‘t Schip had that too, so Krkic looks like Schippie too I guess :-) . I’ve seen him play some games and it’s obvious he is good. Who’s the other hot youngster at Barca again? It’s Krkic and some Catalunyan dude, right?

Bojan Krkic, Giovani dos Santos and Pedrito has participated in some Barca games this season. The next hottie is Gui Assulin from Israel, though he hasnt really decided whether he wants to play for Israel or Spain yet.

My team of my favourite players would be

———–van der sar————
Ramos—-Zanetti—-Terry—-Lahm
van der vaart – nedved – robben
cissé — huntelaar — martins

I am aware that nedved and cissé also play on the left, and that my front 6 are all attacking players but, it’s just how it turned out.

The team I’d have on the bus:

Van der Sar

Alves – Touré – Ramos – Lahm

C.Ronaldo – Essien – Fabregas – Ribery

Eto’o – Torres

Injured and or subs:

Peter Cech
Clichy
Gallas
Carvalho
Abidal
Gerrard
Hleb
Van der Vart
Kaka
Van Nistelrooy
Van Persie
Messi

That’s a decent start.
