Beautiful Orgasm of Orange Joy :-)
The final phase of the match was of unequaled tension and the apotheosis boundless.
The decisive penalty kick by Gianni Zuiverloon exploded the Abe Lenstra Stadium – for many years Foppe’s home, while the Oranje players didn’t know how to release their excitement.
Young Oranje deserved their place in the finals, against Serbia, after three hours of mediocre but spellbinding football against England. The penalty series took 30 minutes, both teams missed seven kicks and even Foppe de Haan’s assistance was needed to keep everything in order.
England defender Taylor wanted to skip taking the tenth kick and wobbled to the side of the pitch, to let another player take the kick. De Haan immediately went out on the pitch to expose his rule-book knowledge to the ref, who told Taylor to come back on an take the penalty. The fans loved it. England coach Pearce gave his consent and the injured Taylor scored…
At long last, it was Zuiverloon who brought the salvation, after Kruiswijk and De Ridder refused the party to start. Goalie Boy Waterman was Holland’s hero after stopping three penalties, scoring one himself and watching one of the post. “Boy did wonderful. I know him for a while now and he is actually not a penalty killer. He moves to early, but today he did swell,” laughed Foppe de Haan.
It took the stewards in the stadium 2 hours to find Waterman…he was buried under 21 Dutch players…
It was sensational all over. In the match, Oranje came sensationally back after being behind 0-1. And when despair tried to land on the stands, it was Maceo Rigters, invisible in the match, who struck. Sub Beerends crossed the ball in, Ryan Donk headed the ball back in the goal area and it took a Van Basten-like overhead kick for Rigters to score the equalizer; 1-1.
In the extra time it was one way traffic. And logically so. Stuart Pearce had taken all his strikers off to protect his 0-1 lead. And Foppe had brought 2 extra strikers, so Oranje played with 5 attacking players. However, the Dutch dominance did not lead to many chances.
In the first half of the match, England didn’t do much better. In the 39nth minute it took three Dutch mistakes for England to score. Keeper Carson kicked the ball onto the Dutch half. Donk lost the header, Vlaar marked his opponent on the wrong side and Waterman forgot to cover the short angle of the goal: 0-1.
In the second half, England started best. Vlaar escaped when he tackled Young on the box-line. The free-kick ended on the post and after that it was Oranje all the way. An overhead kick and 32 (!) penalties later and the party could get started…

Uhm… this is a bit random, but cant Marco van Basten do this for Ruud:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG47AfX3p3s
The video above shows the Swedish national team coach Lars Lagerbäck singing in order to get Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to the national team. And he succeded1

lol…i hate 2 be pessimistic but from sanmarco’s personality..i feel that he is forced 2 take ruud into the team coz he is the second highest scorer this season in europe..so if he continued 2 drop that wud mean like comitting career suicide..he would be criticized coz ruud has prooved himself year after year..and as far as i know marco thinks that the others r better than him on the field

well; it was some game…
think we played the worst game ive seen so far (well so only this one and the belgium one), it was funny; you could see what Cruijff means with his critism on 4-4-2…it looked very, very messy, very oppertunistic (long balls)
Drenthe played not his best, Babal has never convinced me and dint do so this time, deRidder is a laugh, no use to any decent team, Waterman wasnt that good, the goal was 50% his mistake and dont think its that special to stop 3 penaltys out of 16 taken (and he looks to be a bit to sure of himself)
Bakal is nothing special, Zuiverloon played ok in the beginning but was really lost at the end (but, good penalty under that kind of pressure), Donk was ok, liked Pieters (with all his limitations as a back), really liked Beerens, Rigters was not good but the one who was really unbelievably bad was MADURO…he played so f$^%$%^bad it was almost funny…i just cant see what all these managers see or have seen (vanBasten, tenCate), he lacks pace, he passing is so bad its untrue, he has no pressence, he cant lead the team (and he become captain later in the game), i really dont see it
think deHaan made a big mistake in his tactics later in the game..after we were 1-0 down his substitutions were not good..no extra attackers, a bit like in the Advocaat days..
the english were nowhere in the second half, one was already out with injury and all substitutions were already used, one got also injured during the second half and could walk..i never saw a more one sided 2nd half ever and still we werent able to get one decent change or even decent attack..it really showed that these are young guys with very few patience…just long balls in the box, no brains..
you see what you get when you let 2 of the countries with the worst penaly shootout record in football history take a penaly shootout..hahahaha (the english are even worse then we!)
its nice to have them in the final, im very sorry we dont get to play Belgium..thats a great little team (they were beaten 2-0 by Serbia)..its nice to see all the attention this tournament gets in Holland (well there is no other football anyway), these guys will have learned from this and we can benefit later..

This years U21-team is the worst in many many years I think, at least when its down to technique. But they seem to have a high morale. I dont know if they are good enough to pull off 4-3-3, actually, though I think they at least should get to try.

yes Lerkot; there mental strenght is great, they act very grown up..also agree on the 4-3-3 thing, Drenthe and Beerens could have a good go at 4-3-3

Goose – I don’t think TenCate sees much in Maduro – he was benched most of the season.

i know, just like vanBasten who isnt playing Maduro like he did before…now its just Foppe left..dont know if youve seen the game..Maduro was playing so bad it hurted my eyes (had high hopes of him in the beginning)

I really don’t agree on this one though. I think Maduro played well maybe not excellent but he was the only one who took good shots on goal, he recuperated and distributed the ball to the wings, and he looked superb taking 2 penalties the way he did.
In my opinion Maduro is playing OK but knowing he had no opportunities at Ajax this year I can understand he is not 100% fit (of form I mean). He is not match fit.
But I agree that Holland played too many long balls, especially in the extra times that was annoying. They had no patience.
I am really glad van Marwijk is going to Feyenord because Drenthe will learn so much from him.
