Another Dutch update

Ajax lost another match in the season’s build-up, this time against Borussia Dortmund. The youngsters of coach Bert van Marwijk conceided a goal (Huntelaar of course!) in the 1st half but scored twice late in the second half. Ajax captain Jaap Stam: if you’re going to lose, it’s better to do it in the friendlies before the season starts…

PSV did better against Newcastle United. In the first half PSV even played very attractive and dominant football. Ronald Koeman already declared at the start of the season he hoped to be able to add more football to the team.

Edgar Davids’ 19 year old nephew Lorenzo Davids is at the verge of a breakthrough at Feyenoord. The youngster, who was added to Feyenoord’s first team this season by coach Erwin Koeman, is a lefty – like Edgar – but this is where all comparisons stop. Koeman’s main criticism for Lorenzo is that he needs to be more blunt and aggressive. Well well…

Bayern Munich manager Uli Hoeness was highly irritated about the transfer of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Madrid. He stated that Van the Man would have fitted perfectly in Munich, but quickly added to say that Ruud did everything he could to treat Bayern well. “I can’t blame him for anything, he was honest to us all the way. Since his wife is at the final stage of her pregnancy he needed to decide quickly and alas for us, he chose Spain…”

Fernando Ricksen is back with his Glasgow Rangers team mates after having spent 3 weeks in a rehab center, in order to control and manage his fits of anger.

Jerrel Hasselbaink is being investigated by the FA in England for his remarks on Chelsea FC in his biography. Jerrel stated in his book that Chelsea paid illegal bonusses to the players during his tenure at the club. These types of bonusses are not permitted by the FA. Chelsea denies the whole thing. Of course…

Ruud Hesp, the erstwhile goalie of Fortuna Sittard, Roda JC and FC Barcelona, signed on to become the keepers’ trainer of the Dutch National team. He succeeds Stanley Menzo, who accepted the coaching job at FC Volendam.

Edgar Davids’ criticism towards Van Basten was published on this blog some days ago. According to a poll executed by Voetbal International, 72% of the respondents supported Davids and his views.
