Another disappointing Van Nistelrooy performance!

October 3rd, 2007 | By: Jan | 8 Comments »

What a disaster again. Ruud van Nistelrooy. How can he survive at Real Madrid like this! Only two goals against Lazio Roma in their away CL game (2-2 final score). And only two one-touch through passes (for Raul and Ramos). And that half bicycle kick shot at goal, back to the goal, was a really poor try. Thus far, he only scored 52 times in 63 CL matches. I say: sack the loser!!

Liverpool loses at home against Olympique Marseille, where Bolo Zenden gave the assist to the goal scorer. Kuyt came on as a sub. AC Milan had an upset in Glasgow against Celtic. Being 1-0 down they came back into the game thanks to a Kaka penalty kick, but after controlling the game it was a late goal by Aussie Scott McDonald (probably of Scottish decent) who kept the three point at Celtic.

Chelsea beat Valencia, thanks to a Drogba finish. At Real Robben played on the left, with Sneijder left on midfield and Van Gol up front. A Sneijder assist (free-kick) set Ruud’s first goal up after 8 minutes. Madrid controlled the game but the sympathic Lazio team fought their way back 1-1. A beautiful through pass by Raul to Van Nistelrooy meant the 1-2 but the slack Merenguez allowed Lazio back in the game and with some more gusto and pizzazz they could even have won the match. Sneijder played ok, Robben had a lot of trouble with his direct opponent(s), Van Nistelrooy showed JC what efficiency is and replacement Drenthe had a big albeit tough last chance to get the winner. The former Feyenoord youngster took the ball half volly and missed the mark by a meter…

especially in the first half. when he changed the side and went to the right flank he played better. his opponent in the first half did a good job. i sympathize with lazio – without any big name they played a very open game and with their heart they counterbalanced real’s technical superiority.

How on earth can you say that Van Nistelrooy played bad. He scored twice which is very good! He’s scoring like a maniac for real and for holland. You stupid!

:-) , Leon…take it easy my friend… This was irony. Because our ever critical and hard to follow Johan Cruyff said in an interview he thought Van Nistelrooy is a mediocre player… Or something like that. And we at the blog, we loooooveeee….ruud van Gol. So, we are making a bit of fun of Johan…

Who actually was a pretty limited player himself. Lousy tackler. Didn’t take penalty kicks. Couldn’t win a finals against Germans. Lost a dreadful 1-8 against Bayern Munich in his farewell game. Horrible player really…

Like our team manager Van Basten. Retired from football at 29! The lazy bugger.

@ferenc; thought that Madrid played very untidy…a lot of balls lost duting built up…understand from Jan that Barca played great, looks like the team is forming and Rijkaard is out of the pressure zone
