And more weekend results…

Martin Jol’s Spurs lost 1-0 against ManU. More trouble for Jol, in other words, although my commentators who were at the match ensured me that Tottenham deserved a draw at least.

Van Persie missed a penalty kick! That doesn’t happen often. Cesc Fabregas secured the 3 points for Arsenal though.

Babel started for Liverpool (that won 2-0) and kept Kuyt out of the team…

Barcelona couldn’t keep up with Real Madrid in their first league match. They drew 0-0. Henry started on the bench.

Feyenoord won their second game 5-0 against NAC Breda. NAC came not to lose. Feyenoord didn’t bite and played it cool, this time. And by doing so found many openings. Roy Makaay scored in the first half from the spot. In the second half, Vlaar scored a header, new signing Sahin scored two goals and De Guzman converted a free kick into a goal.

Ajax had a tough first half against Heerenveen. Maduro seemed to score in the first minute but hit the post. Then, Ajax struggled 44 minutes long and seemed to play against themselves. Stam made a huge mistake, offering Heerenveen the first goal 0-1. It seemed Ajax had to sip tea with this score-line but Suarez and Vermaelen scored twice in the dying minutes of the first half. In the second half, Heerenveen was nowhere and again Suarez and youngster Schilder scored to make the final score 4-1.

Feyenoord looked very strong, esp. Makaay…you can see that he is used to a different level…he has great vision and i expect great things from him… Feyenoord will be a very serious contender for the title this year

Az lost, didnt see the game so cant comment on it

Groningen lost, a surprise too, they ae high on my list

well, strong teams:
Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV…some things never change

The Tottenham-Man U. match was broadcast live in the US, and was fun to watch. Jol is a fine coach, but does not have the overall talent to be unusually successful. Tottenham played Man U evenly, and it took an incredible goal for T. to lose. As with the Orange, T. need another strong defender and a consistent, talented forward. I hope that the T. management let Jol complete the year, he deserves it.
