Ancelotti: Seedorf an example for Ronaldinho!

It’s so easy to forget Clarence Seedorf, with all the news about our extraordinarely talented creative midfielders. But…Clarence is still going strong. Carlo Ancelotti, AC Milan’s coach, is very happy with both Beckham and Seedorf, but less impressed with Ronaldinho and Yoann Gourcuff. As told to French football magazine So Foot.

Ancelotti gave the reason why the Brazilian wunderkind is warming the bench more than anything else in San Siro: “Some players are wonderfully gifted, but then think their talent is enough. Ronaldinho is like that. I have played and trained with the most gifted players, but once you think being talented is enough, you’ll be proven wrong. You need a good physical condition, you need an awake mind and you need to work hard on so-called automatisms in football. If you don’t put in the work at training, you can’t shine in matches. Simple.”

“Ronaldinho should pay attention to Maldinin and Seedorf. Maldini is a pro for 20 years and never ever complained. Seedorf is one of our most important players. He’s like a 4WD. He can play anytime, anywhere and will always deliver.”

Ancelotti is also very content with David Beckham, although it took some time for the English star convinced his coach. “I can tell you, David is a great player. He’s not exceptional though. But he did impress me with his performance and mentality. Beckham sees it all quicker than the rest. His vision is tremendous. He is better than in his Manchester days. Slower than Kaka, sure, but tactically and technically superior. A very bright lad and he works very hard.”

That doesn’t apply to Gourcuff, according to Ancelotti. The French midfielder is hired out to Bordeaux. “I’m not sure he’ll return. He might be a good player, but mentally he lacks. He wants to prove himself, but he hasn’t had much value for the team.”

David Beckham expects to finish the season in Milan. The 33 year old gave an interview to VI.

About AC Milan:
“I never expected to enjoy myself this much in Milan. I play with players like Pirlo, Seedorf and Ambrosini. That’s just great. They have played at the top for years and know exactly what the other one wants. It was easy for me to get settled in.”

His speciality:
“My strength is the long pass. Milan has so many moving players in the team. They are all intelligent, they know where to go and when. It’s wonderful playing with Kaka, Pato and Inzaghi. A passers’ paradise.”

About Seedorf
“Clarence is very important at this club. I’m not just talking about his skills and qualities, but also his experience and he oozes confidence. That is addictive. Clarence is cool and collected. I’ve never seen him stressed, no matter how important the match. You can feel the respect of his mates and the club management when Clarence is around. Fascinating.”

About the Dutch
“The thing that strikes me with Dutch players is their mentality. They actually believe in themselves. I’m not talking sports people, but in general. The whole society. Dutch people are ambitious, they chase their objectives with a passion.”

About Ruud Gullit
“To me, Ruud was the symbol of Dutch football. He – like Clarence – oozed confidence. Always looking for depth and for the attack. An artist. It was special for me to work with him at LA Galaxy. He tried to introduce the Dutch style there and any club will benefit from that. It’s sad I only worked with him for a limited time.”

About Seedorf and Oranje.
Why doesn’t Clarence play in Oranje? Beats me! I don’t know. In my eyes, Clarence will make any team anywhere in the world better. Whether it’s a club team or a national team. It’s not easy for him. Just like me, he wants to represent his country. There’s a WC coming up and it might be my last. I know Clarence shares the same dream as me…”

this was the formation I was using in my Fifa 09 game. Just wanted to know what people thought about it. It’s not really a traditional formation, except I suppose one could call it a 3-5-2, more like a 3-2-3-2 though.

@Dirk. I like it. However I would replace one of Van Bommel/Schaars with De Jong.

Hmm…I actually like Scholes. Players like him. I think Sneijder is more like Scholes. The little ginger brat works his arse off and can be mean in challenges too. I like the man.

Clarence would need a 4-4-2 to shine and Bert would need to sacrifice a creative player for a destroyer in midfield, to cover for Clarence. Did you ever see Clarence make a sliding tackle???

Seedorf is perfect in a counter attacking team, that plays tight when not in possession, like AC Milan. I’d love to see Seedorf have a go in England :-) . Chelsea?

Can’t see Guus come back to Oranje. Guus lovessss underdogs! He’s smart. It’s about his choices more than anything else. Failed at Real Madrid, but creates magic at underdog sides. He has nothing to lose with Chelsea, but I really doubt whether he’ll take on the job for next seasons. He’s a saint now, and I don’t think he’ll have the guts to take on his own status. Don’t get me wrong, I like him, but he’s a smart cookie.

Jan, true about Seedorf, have observed him many times and was (is) one of the highest “Lose possession” players and least “gain possession” mids in our history. When he and Davids played together it was always Seedorf loses it – Davids gets it back (not Seedorf gets it back.) Also didn’t like his parents telling Guus that “Clarence MUST be included” no matter what position he plays. No doubt his talent and how he fits in with Milan. Strange but I would take Boateng ahead of him into Oranje, but he is not ahead of any of the central pairings we have now. Thats just my opinion.

Clarence should take Sneijder’s place in the squad at the moment. I love that little guy but he needs to concentrate on his game at the moment.

Clarence should also be the new captain of Oranje because of his experience.

If there was a trophy for consistency the Dutch would surely get that.

@MO- I take it that you refer to Johann Chrysostom Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart right? :-)

By the way, a lesser known fact, Mozart even wrote scatological music, the canon “Leck mich im Arsch” (literally “Lick me in the arse”, sometimes idiomatically translated “Kiss my arse” or “Get stuffed”) It’s Kochel number is K. 231. It was part of his corresondence with his sister! He even had a sense of humour :-)

Beethoven’s actual name is van Beethoven, which comes from his father Johann van Beethoven who was born in Mechelen, Belgium, and considering especially Flanders has a lot of common history and culture to Netherlands but mostly Limburg and Brabant. I’d say we deserve some of the credit :)

As for painters, no way you can compare them, Carravagio, Leonardo, Migelangelo are tottaly different types of painter compared to Vermeer or V.Gogh. In his type of painting V.Gogh is possibly the best and most well known. Funny, cause I live in the same place as V.Gogh grew up, he used to live 1 or 2 streets away from me with his father who used to be a pastor in my town.

You guys are hilarious :) My fav painter is Picasso, can only afford his prints though…..I prefer Abstract. However if ever a painting hypnotized or mesmerized me it’s Rembrandt’s Night Watch. Guys if you ever get to see this huge painting…step back and look at the sunlight ray from left to right and how it hits certain people virtually “lighting them up” ..Amazing!
