Probably on YouTube, although I don't know for sure. Othertwise the www.knvb.nl site, I guess. Haven't heard too much positive stuff about it. And it's all in Dutch, but you're from Holland right? So...check it out...

well, to be honest im not a big fan of changing rules in fooball... the one thing FIFA changed wich i really liked and like is the rule that the goalie cant pick up a ball if it comes from his own player (by foot)

but think we have to be very careful that we dont break the flow of play.. we dont want the game to stop (so the coorperatios can show their commercials) like with american football..totally agree with Caleb that i rather see a ref mistake then a game wich is stopped every 5 minutes...its part of the game (like bad weather or a bad pitch)

but; i like the idea of 2 refs, like in field hockey..2 assistants with more power would mean 4 people watching and refereing the game

one other thing would be a chip in the ball as to see if it crossed the line..i could live with that..play can be easily stopped and it would take a few seconds... guess its too late for the german team of 1966!!! haha

the point i was trying to make earlier was that one thing i like is that theres no difference in rules and playing between amateur and pro football... technic is great but only the pro clubs can use it..thats a thing to watch

ofcourse you could always watch the game on vid. when its over and look at dives/fouls... would love it if diving was stopped... but again we have to realise that this can only be done with the pro teams

Goose: thanks, I watched the video, left a comment regarding this swines deliberate attempt to injure.
Igor: you are right, I thought the same when watching the game, "why was that free kick awarded"

I agree with Samuel Knight, it's too hard to implement instant replay in a basically non-stopping game like football. To tell the truth, I would rather have some bad calls by refs than have the play be stopped for 5 minutes while the footage is reviewed, like in American Football.

I kind of like the idea of reviewing some footage at half time and retrospectively giving out yellow/red cards for diving, missed fouls or unfair play. I think that would really discourage players from being dirty when the ref isn't looking (especially as they might have already gotten one yellow in the first half and then would be off). The only problem is sometimes it is quite dificult to determine if its a dive or not even on video, and then it becomes the ref's judgement call again. But in other cases it is very obvious, so in those times it would be easy to award a card at yellow.

@Igor: I totally agree about the foul. I remember thinking that during the game, don't know why I forgot about it until now.

Agreed the speed and level of play has exceeded what the refs can follow. Soccer/football is one of the last sports to embrace the opportunities technology can provide - goal line and boundary calls - and the increased "fairness" that multiple on field refs afford the game. The only thing holding change back is dogma, and it's jeopardizing the game.

Goose,

Are you saying that 2 refs should be on the field routinely at whatever level? Would agree with that. However, for a lot of communities paying two refs is just expensive.

What I know to the case is that at the top level of play - 1 ref just can't do it. You just can't realistically follow 22 flying bodies.

another solution would be for ufea/fifa to review the tape following games and suspend (or give a yellow card) to players who dive, play dirty or cheat in general. but right now no action is ever taken if the ref working the game missed the original incident. that is unfair to both the game and the referees who can't be expected to see everything as goose mentioned.

Totally agree on the refereeing - it's routinely bad.

The basic problem that I see is that one man just can't keep an eye on 22 top notch athletes - all of whom have a huge incentive to cheat.

I'd throw out the basic suggestion that there should be 2 refs on the field. One chief the other who supposed to keep looking around at where the main ref isn't looking.

The instant replay would difficult to implement in a flowing game like football (American football has built in breaks) - there is nothing to stop FIFA or UEFA from using the video tape to punish diving. They could punish diving at half time, or even during the game. Don't stop the game, but use the evidence.
