Ajax the champs of 2008

December 24th, 2008 | By: Jan | 13 Comments »

Ajax is the best club of the Netherlands in 2008. If we’d honor a table over the calender year, Marco van Basten’s team has four points lead over surprise number 2, NAC

Feyenoord had a poor second season half in 2008 and continues to disappoint in the first half of the new season. They are at spot 9 with equal points as city-rival Sparta.

With one more game to go, there’s a chance we’ll see some changes in the table, but Ajax won’t be beaten anymore.

I told you guys all that Marco is the best revolutionary coach in Holland of all time (apart from the General Michels)…but you were all in haste, including Holland, to criticize my man during his tenure with Oranje.I can’t wait for Ajax to win the UEFA in 2009, and the Champions League in 2010.AJAX # 1!!!
I looooooooooove Marco Van Basten!!!

I am a BIG Ajax fan (all my life) and a big MvB fan when he played for Holland and Milan, however the BEST TEAM right now when it counts s AZ. Seriously if you do get a chance to watch what Louis has done (dont like him either) to a team of non recognizable big names (not yet)its amazing. Stats and figures can be fiddled with to suit anything but you have yo go with a team who not only is at the top, but plays GREAT football to be there. Barcelona in Spain and Arsenal this time last year.

if they play like barca and arsenal i should watch them because this is the style i really, really like. luis is interesting – not a sympathetic man,but a very great coach. wouldn’t say that marco is a top coach,he could be,but not yet. i would say our greatest coaches are: rinus, hiddink, happel (ok,he wasn’t dutch but did a lot for dutch football),luis and frank. consider frank better coach than marco. anyway i’m not to objective with him because he’s my all time favourite player, coach, everything. when i was at camp nou museum one and a half year ago in the shop the took some fake pictures and put your face together with one of the barca stars (obviously for 15 euros). they asked me who i would like to be pictured with? ronaldinho? messi? eto’o? puyol? xavi? my answer was: no,no,no. frank rijkaard. and i have a very nice (fake9 pioture of frank and me together:-)

ferenc, if you get a chance to watch Ajax 1995/96 (especially CL Bayern Munich 2nd game) you wll see Barca/Arsenal/AZ current style and how every team wanted to play like them.

@Ferenc—where did you get that DVD? Two games from that era I’d really like to see: the 5-2 win over Bayern, and the first 2-0 victory over Milan in the CL opener…and best of the holiday to all you guys; I open this blog every day, and my day wouldn’t be the same without it. Party at Finn’s? Chili crab in Singapore? one of these days we should make something like that happen. (And we’ll have a “Kuyt” jersey fitted especially for Tiju.)

@Andrew – 2 years ago i read an advert on a hungarian web page and the guy had something like 5-600 dvds, every important game since 1950-60. i bought ajax-panathinaikos,ajax-inter,ajax-juve,ajax-milan (supercup),oranje-argentina (74),oranje-brazil (74),oranje-soviet union (88),milan-steaua,barca-samp (92),the ajax-milan you mentioned,ajax-bayern and finally oranje-argentina (98). good quality dvds, but and some time later i wanted to buy more stuff like oranje-austria 5-1,oranje-england 3-1,real-ajax0-2,barca-arsenal 2-1,but unfortunately the guy disappeared. anyway i’m happy to get this dvds but would be better to have others as well…
