Ajax fans: the Offside needs you!

Wouldn’t you want this man to be your mate?

Every football fan in the world knows Ajax. Ajax is synonymous with adventurous, attractive football.

In the 1970s Ajax impressed through total football. Coach Michels, stars Cruyff, Neeskens, Krol, Rep… When JC was Ajax’ coach he led them to another European cup with Van Basten, Van ‘t Schip, Winter and Rijkaard and under Louis van Gaal the Sons of Gods embarrassed AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. And still, Ajax stands for youth, for skill and for gutspah.

Will they ever win another Champions League Cup? Who knows… But they most definitely will rock the football world with more young talents who’ll grow into household names. Sneijder, Van der Vaart and Huntelaar are the latest Ajax products to reach to the top (when they leave Madrid :-) ) and Daley Blind, Siem de Jong and Greg van der Wiel are waiting in the wings.

So how come the Offside Blog can’t find a moderator for the Ajax site???

Come on my friends! I’m sure one of you has it in him/her. Leave your comment below if you want to be a highroller in the Football Blog world. I can testify on the perks you’ll get.

Free entrance in any jet set club in the world! A hefty monthly paycheck! Martin Jol’s mobile phone number for quick texts with line-up suggestions! A 10% commission on transfer deals! A free Ajax jersey with the signatures of all players! Recognition! The yearly OffSide seminar in Hawaii…

Well, these are all in planning stages for now, but its fun! You’ll make new friends. It gives you something to do. You know you want it! You don’t have any friends in the real world! Come on….

Some Ajax news from me then: Martin Jol won’t make his definite season selection known this week. He still wants to see some lads in action. The captains’ band is still not dedicated to one player (Emanuelson, Suarez and Wielaert all wore the band) and Sulejmani – last season’s big signing – hasn’t played a minute yet.

Ajax did make a move for Demy de Zeeuw. AZ coach Ronald Koeman doesn’t want to see his midfielder leave, but rumors have it that Demy wants to make the move. Koeman: “If they’re really serious about (meaning: if they show us the money) they can come and talk!”.

IF I had the time, and IF I lived in Holland and preferably Amsterdam and IF I could write and IF I was a die hard`Ajax supporter I would consider doing it.

The only thing in the above I qualify for is the die hard Ajax supporter bit. I don’t think a Norwegian living in New York is your ideal Ajax insider.

Having said that, if I am not mistaken, I think our friend Alex is also an Ajax man, is Dutch, lives in Holland, can write English very well and makes a lot of sense most of the time. Maybe he would be a good choice? I know I for one would read his entries and perhaps post the odd comment myself.

So Alex why don’t you step up to the plate and take on the Ajax part? You have my vote.
