Ajax defeats Atletico Madrid 2-0
Ajax started the Amsterdam Tournament well. With a 2-0 victory, the Sons of Gods are now up against the Gunners who defeated Lazio Roma in the second match. Atletico Madrid didn’t come to win, though, as they played lazy, lacklustre and slow. A good start for Ajax is important though, since they’ll play for the Champions League qualification soon. Losing out on the Millionaire’s Ball will mean a big financial upset for the struggling Amsterdam club.
Wesley Sneijder played a great game and showed why Valencia was willing to reach deep in their warchest for him with a fantastic goal. Spaniard Gabri scored the first goal. New signing Kennedy played alongside Huntelaar upfront and proved to be a re-enforcement. Ten Cate couldn’t use his fave left flank, with Davids, Leonardo, Manucharyan, Verthongen, Mitea and Urzaiz injured.
Arsenal beat Lazio Roma 2-1. Wenger didn’t play his strongest side. Robin van Persie started on the bench and came onto the pitch in the 70est minute, with roaring applause from the stands. Rosicky and Cesc Fabregas also only played one half. Eduardo, Theirry Henry’s successor, scored one goal.
More news… Brazilian rock defender Alex will leave PSV after all. He got his working visa for the UK and will without a doubt move to Chelsea or some other PL club.
And Jari Litmanen, the Man of Glass, is injured again. The 36 year old Fin snapped his achilles thingamabob and needs surgery. He won’t renew his contract with Malmo, but again, Litmanen did not comment on “ending his career”. The last time the former CL winner and Ajax-star played 2o matches was when he was under contract at Liverpool… That must be 5 to 6 six seasons ago…. Get well soon!
