Ajax and Feyenoord main suppliers for U18 Oranje

Ajax and Feyenoord are again the main suppliers of players for the Dutch team under 18 years old. The team will play Belgium on November 19, led by KNVB coach Kees Zwamborn. There are 6 Ajax players and 3 Feyenoord players in the first selection.

Roly Bonevacia, Lorenzo Burnet, Geoffrey Castillion, Florian Jozefzoon, Ricardo van Rhijn and Rodney Sneijder (all Ajax), Ali Messaoud and Erik Schouten (both AZ), Rajiv van la Parra (SM Caen (Fra.)), Jordy Clasie, Tim Eekman and Ricky van Haaren (all Feyenoord), Ties Evers (De Graafschap), Quenten Martinus and Jurjan Wouda (both sc Heerenveen), Marten de Roon (Sparta Rotterdam), Fons Mulder (FC Utrecht) and Davy Pröpper (Vitesse / AGOVV).

The match against Belgium is Zwamborn’s first game in this role. The former Ajax defender – and former manager youth development at Ajax and Sunderland and former youth coach at Feyenoord – is the successor of Wim Koevermans.

wesley sniejder said his brother rodney has better technique then himself, he may have a very bright future

Apparently in a poll Sneijder got named best Dutch free-kick taker, getting 70% of the votes, van Persie got 21%, and Huntelaar was third with 3%, it really surprises me that van der Vaart didn’t make it onto the list, because he has really accurate free-kicks, and in the game against Russia, could’ve had 2 or 3 assists if someone could put their body onto one of the kicks, which ended up going just inches wide. It’s the best way to take an indirect freekick, because the keeper doesn’t want to come out, and any touch will have him beat.

Castilion and Rodney Sneijder are the ones that caught my attention when I saw U-18 some time ago. But van La Parra made his debute for french Caen, but don’t really know him..

i agree castilion and sneijder are the players to watch. castilion style of play is similar to adebayor and crouch. rodney is more technically gifted than wesley, he is more like kaka.

@dirk – I agree with you about Van der Vaart – he’s a good free kick taker. Not the best at taking direct free kick shots (still not bad though), but he does very well at putting in dangerous balls into the box for team mates to get on to.

Apparently van Bommel is set to leave Bayern Munchen at the end of the year.

The ones to watch from the list above are Castillion, the Dutch very own Adebayor and Van La Parra (why Feyenoord let him go is beyond comprehension).

Oranje B won’t be all that impressive if PSV, Feyenoord, Ajax and Heerenveen manage to keep their players from going, you would miss Vermeer, Emanuelson, V.d.Wiel, De jong, Hofland, Wijnaldum, Fer, Amrabat, Bakkal, Koevermans and Beerens. Who would you call up then, Castelen, Maduro, Janse, Koenders, Luijckx, Jenner, Hiariej, Krul, Kum, George, Emnes, Kivuvu? That would mean a reasonable step down for some positions.
But I’m pleased to see Braafheid, Loovens and Verhaegi in this.
I suspect that he would want to start with 4-2-3-1 to make them get used to it. and something like
Vermeer
Zuiverloon-Hofland-Loovens-Braafheid
Bakkal-Schaars
Beerens-Emanuelson-Elia
Koevermans

Nicky Hofs should’ve been picked up, he’s good.

My B-team formation would be

—————-vermeer——————
van der wiel–donk–zuiverloon–emanuelson
——-someone—de jong—wijnaldum—–
amrabat———koevermans——–drenthe

didn’t really know who to put in that extra spot, but I’m sure someone would fit.
