23 Dutchmen in Germany - Part 4
Now for the best part. Throughout the World Cup History the Netherlands have never been short of brilliant attacking talent: Rep, Cruyff, van der Kerkhoff, van Basten, Kluivert, Bergkamp…the list goes on.
Who should be representing the Dutch in Germany? Who do you think is good enough to carry on the proud tradition?
Here are the players eligble after van Basten announced the preliminary squad:
Ryan Babel (Ajax), Romeo Castelen (Feyenoord),
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax), Dirk Kuyt (Feyenoord),
Martijn Meerdink (AZ), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Manchester United),
Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Arjen Robben (Chelsea),
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (PSV)
If you can specify whether you want to bring a particular striker with as a centre forward or a winger that’d be helpful too. If you haven’t already put in your picks for keepers, defenders and midfielders please do. Just before van Basten puts out his squad we’ll have ours ready and see how qualified we are for van Basten’s job.

What a group of forwards to choose from! The Dutch are going to be scary good in 2008…if not sooner.

Why do you say that Bense? What other forwards would you want to take along?

This is my first time in this forum.
I think it is not so difficult to predict Van Basten thinking if we look back to all of qualifying matches. Van Nistelrooy, Kuyt, Van Persi, and Robben will go to Germany for sure if they are not injuried. For the second central striker and right winger, it seems to me that he like JVoH and Meerdink more than others althought I hope he would select KJH instead.

I don’t think van Basten can afford to leave out Klaas Jan Huntelaar. He has been playing too good not to be included. Meerdink doesn’t have the quality to make up for his lack of experience, I feel.
