23 Dutchmen in Germany - Part 3
We’ve done reasonably well picking those players we feel will be marching off to Germany come the middle of May. But let’s be honest, the really interesting discussions lie in midfield and attack. Now that we have the provisional squad of 33 we can cut right to the chase.
Here we are then:
George Boateng (Middlesbrough), Mark van Bommel (Barcelona), Phillip Cocu (PSV), Edgar Davids (Tottenham Hotspur), Nigel De Jong (Hamburg), Denny Landzaat (AZ), Hedwiges Maduro (Ajax), Wesley Sneijder (Ajax), Rafael van der Vaart (Hamburg)
Again we’re looking for six here. Which three will you leave at home and why?

Hedwiges Maduro, De Jong and Rafael van der Vaart are injured. Are you sure they will come back before May 15?
If so, I will drop Lanzaart and Boateng for sure.We already have two best well-experienced DMs,Davids and Cocu. I really love to see Senijder’s powerful long shots. But the question is whether he is inform or not. We can’t see him much during this year. I shall drop Senijder or Maduro although I like them very much. De Jong can’t be dropped cause he is only right person for right flank cover in the provisional squad.

You’re right Maduro, de Jong and van der Vaart are all injured. Right now it looks like if everything goes to plan all three will be recovered in time for the warm up matches before June or maybe for the last game of the German season in de Jong and van der Vaart’s case.

Van der Vaart- Landzaat- Van Bommel- Sneijder- Cocu - Maduro are the six players I would chose, assuming that none will be injured at the time of the world cup.

I would choose:
van der Vaart-Cocu-van Bommel as my starting three with
Maduro-Davids-Landzaat as the other three. I think David’s experience at the World Cup level is necessary for players like van der Vaart and Maduro
